We are a purpose-led
Certified B Corp

We are proud to count ourselves amongst the thousands of different businesses around the world - and our particularly vibrant B Corp community here in Portland, Oregon - who believe in using business for good. We are determined to deploy our skills, experience and passion toward effecting the change we want to see in the world!

We believe business can be an instrument to create social justice and equity in our industry.

We do this through our business practices, our community involvement, the stories we help tell, and the voices we bring together to tell them. Certified B Corporations balance profit and purpose by meeting the highest standards of social, environmental and legal accountability. We are thrilled to be a B Corp video production partner that feels as good to team up with as the work is to show off. Check out our B Corp profile.

B Corp standards

WORKERS
We are a people first organization. We believe that if we take care of each other, that makes us better creators, and ultimately better partners to you! Our operations are rooted in anti-oppressive policies and practices that align with our value of justice.

COMMUNITY
We recognize that inequity is deeply ingrained in every facet of our society, including the video production industry. We are committed to making our business an instrument for effecting social and economic justice for BIPOC, women, and LGBTQIA+.

CUSTOMERS
We cultivate and celebrate collective creativity, ideation, and outcomes over individual achievements. We believe we make each other better, so we strive to make space for everyone at the table to participate and contribute.

SUPPLIERS
We make decisions about our work, our relationships, and our social and economic impacts looking through an equity lens. We think critically about the impact our work will have on people and the planet, and we’re committed to making it a positive one. What we do–and don’t do–matters.

ENVIRONMENT
We think long-term. We build structures and systems that will last, whether for our people, our clients, our community, or for the planet. We intend to be around for a while and we act like it.

About the owners

After working in the industry for decades, Mike Biewer and Joel Pomeroy bought Funnelbox in 2019 with the goal of using the business to make meaningful change in the Portland production space. Mike combines his passions for design and storytelling with his fundamental commitment to building sustainable economic systems that are generative and supportive to the communities they serve. Joel has deep roots in purpose-led storytelling, bringing a powerful voice to value-aligned brands, and maximum impact to the causes that most shaped his upbringing: racial and socio-economic justice.

Community partners

Are you a nonprofit that needs a video partner?

One of the ways we give back to our community each year is by using our skills and experience to support a local nonprofit project that we believe in. Partners like CASA for Children, and Bret Malley with The Divergent Gift: Unboxing Autism documentary — we love working with mission driven organizations to elevate their stories and expand their reach. If you think we might be a good match, we’d love to hear from you!
